Obiaman Dey - (Obeah man day)

Cultural day in Suriname. Obia (Obeah) is a term used in the West Indies to refer to folk magic, sorcery, and religious practices derived from West Africa- believed to have originated from the Ashanti and Koromantin tribes. In Suriname specifically, there are people with origins from Ghana, Ivory Coast, Angola, Windward coast, Sierra Leone and more which have had a cultural influence in Suriname.
